Cat_Mob_HPW_realme X2-Post

After the launching it's flagship the Realme X2 Pro, Realme is back with another power-packed device the Realme X2, which is a successor of the Realme X. Realme has launched the Realme X2 a couple of days ago and like the earlier Realme devices this one is also offers really great specs at a really good price tag. Some of the highlights of the X2 are-

  • It has the 64 MP quad camera setup.
  • It has the SD 730G SoC under the hood.
  • You get sAMOLED display with an in-display FP scanner.
  • 30 W VFC 4.0 charger in the box.

With the starting price of Rs.16,999 the X2 goes head-on with the Redmi Note 8 Pro. So which one should you pick? Let's find out....

Design & Display-

On the design front both the Realme X2 and the Redmi note 8 Pro offers a premium built and design. Both the devices have the gradient finish on the back and are protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass 5, both on the front and back. The design on the X2 is exactly the same as on the Realme XT, infact the X2 is identical to the XT.

On the front the Note 8 Pro has a 6.53 inch Full HD+ IPS LCD display while the X2 has the better 6.4 inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display. The display on both the devices is good but the AMOLED display on the X2 produces better colors and deeper blacks, so I'll go with the X2 here. Both the devices has the dew-drop notch with the selfie shooter. This is also the reason why the Note 8 Pro has a physical FP scanner while the X2 has an in-display one

Under the hood-

This is a category where both the devices differs a lot. The Note 8 Pro is powered by the gaming centric Mediatek Helio G90T which is a 12nm processor while the X2 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G which is also a gaming centric smartphone which is a 8nm processor. Both the SoCs are very powerful and are great performer but the Helio G90T on the Note 8 Pro is more powerful and is so needs more power. We have the benchmark scores of both the devices here and its clear from these scores that the G90T on the Note 8 Pro has an upper hand here.

The actual performance of both the devices is really good but the G90T performs slightly better while playing games like PUBG Mobile and COD Mobile.

You get the 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage option or you can get the 6/8 GB + 128 GB variant on the Realme X2 and the Redmi Note 8 Pro comes in 6 + 64/128 GB variant or the 8 + 128 GB variant option.

Cameras-

On the camera front both the devices have the identical cameras on the back. You get the 64 MP primary sensor with 8 MP Ultra-wide angle sensor, 2 MP Depth sensor and a 2 MP Macro shooter. Since both the devices have the same camera array the camera performance is also quite similar, both captures really good shots.

The shots on the Note 8 Pro are more sharper and have more details while the shots on the X2 have better color production and better dynamic range. The Macros on the Note 8 Pro are better than the X2 as they are more clear and details.

On the video front both the devices can shoot 4K videos at 30 fps while they can shoot 1080p video at 60 fps. The X2  has different camera capabilities like it comes with bokeh video mode and I really like it.

Talking about the selfies shooters, the X2 has a 32 MP f/2.0 camera while the Note 8 Pro packs in a 20 MP f/2.0 camera. Both the devices shoots good shots and there is no major difference between them here.

Software & Battery-

On the software front there is MIUI and Color OS on the Note 8 Pro and the X2 and fairly speaking I am not a fan of either of them. Both the skins provide high level of customization and comes with a couple of handy features like dark mode, navigation gestures and much more but there is also the clutter and also the annoying ads on the MIUI. Both of the devices comes with Android Pie on-board and this is disappointing as it has been a couple of months since Android 10 has rolled out. But you'll surely get the Android 10 update soon.

Talking about the battery the Note 8 Pro packs in a 4500 mAh battery while the X2 has a slightly smaller 4000 mAh battery. But the battery can easily last upto a day on both of these devices. Since the Note 8 Pro has a relatively bigger battery so it has the advantage of it and lasts a bit more longer than the X2.

Talking about the charging speed, the Note 8 Pro comes with a 18 W charger in-the-box and the X2 has a 30 W VOOC Flash Charger in-the- box. So it is clear that the X2 charges more quickly than the Note 8 Pro. Realme claims that the X2 can charge upto 67% in just 30 mins of charge, which s really great.

Verdict-

So after all the comparison the question has rised up again, "Which one is Better?" Both the devices are power packed and offers a great value at their price tag but, my pick here will be the Realme X2. See both are a great performer but X2's sAMOLED display, better charging speed and an ad free UI software experience matters more to me. The Redmi Note 8 Pro has its pros too like it has the slightly better cameras as compared to the X2 and has a more powerful SoC, the G90T.

So which is your pick? Tell me in the comment section below.
