Honor, the sibling of the Chinese smartphone giant Huawei, has launched the Honor 9X in India at a price tag of 13,999 INR on Flipkart. It features a notch-less display with a pop-up selfie camera and bigger storage. The Honor 9X is the successor of the Honor 8X.
Under the hood
Talking about the battery on the phone, you get the usual 4000 mAh which can last upto a day or probably even more. There is a 10W charger in the box which is just okay, but there is the Type-C port which is good to see as most of the smartphones out in the market have it.
• Honor 9X has a 6.59" FHD+ notch-less display with a pop-up selfie camera
• 48 MP triple camera set-up on the back with a gorgeous X - pattern (only in blue)
• It comes in 4/6 GB + 128 GB variant at a starting price of INR 13,999 on Flipkart
Design and Display
The Honor 9X has the X pattern on the back which is, specific to the Sapphire Blue color variant, one of the best looking smartphone out you can get. When light falls on the back of the device you get to see the X pattern.
There is also a FP scanner alinged on the centre line and there is a camera capsule which has the triple cameras with LED flash below it.
On the front it sports a 6.59" FHD+ Full View IPS LCD display and the one thing I like about it is that it is does not have any kind of notch, which means you get a full- screen notch-less display. The display here is quite good and there is a thin chin at the bottom, which is okay.
Under the hood
Let's know talk about the driving force of the device. The Honor 9X has the HiSilicon Kirin 710F SoC which is a good to go with processor. The Kirin 710F performs similar to the Snapdragon 665 which is powering Mi A3, Redmi Note 8, Realme 5, 5s. The Kirin 710F performs very well in general usage and can handle casual gaming also. While it is not the best processor in this price range and you can get the gaming centric Helio G90T or the Snapdragon 730G by adding up few more bucks, it is still a nice performer.

The device is available in two configuration i.e. the 4+128 GB variant which is priced at 13,999 or the 6+128 GB variant at 16,999.
Cameras
The cameras on the Honor 9X consists of a 48 MP primary shooter, a 8 MP wide-angle lens and a 2 MP depth sensor for better portraits. The cameras seems to be pretty good and can give you some decent shots. There is not a lot to say about the cameras as they haven't yet been tested, but going by the previous Honor devices they will probably not let you down.
As talked earlier the selfie camera is a 16 MP pop-up camera which is also a decent one.
Software
The Honor 9X comes with Android 9 Pie on-board, which is a little bit disappointing, along with EMUI 9.1 on the top of it. The EMUI offers a fine user experience but is not the best one out. I was expecting the 9X to come with Android 10 out-of-the box but it isn't so, but hopefully we'll be able to see the Android 10 update very soon.
So at the end the Honor 9X is a gorgeous looking smartphone with decent specs which will handle most of the work but you have a many better options also like the Redmi Note 8 Pro, Realme X2, Realme 5 Pro and many more.
